Bio

I am a PhD candidate in the Plant Biology Graduate Group, interested in the genetics and genomics of improving consumer traits in crops such as flavor and nutritional quality. My current research is focused on investigating levels of at-harvest and bioaccessible nutrients in common bean. This project utilizes robotic stomach chambers to dynamically simulate the digestive process for the release of bioaccessible nutrients from genetically diverse common bean samples grown across California. I completed my BS at UC Davis in 2020, double majoring in Genetics and Food Science. During my BS, I studied the transcriptional regulation of secondary plant metabolites in the Shikimate pathway.
