Position Title
Assistant Project Scientist
I am an Assistant Project Scientist in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and postdoctoral alumna in the Department of Plant Sciences at the University of California, Davis. I did my undergraduate studies in Applied Biology at the Polytechnic College of Dakar in Senegal. I obtained my PhD in Plant Genetics from the University of California Riverside and joined UC Davis as a Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellow. My research has been focused on the genetic basis of domestication-related traits in cowpeas, including flowering time, seed size, and pod shattering.
I have been working on a large consortium project, “GxExM Innovation through Intelligence for Climate Adaptation”. The project focuses on the pairwise and three-way integration of AI-enabled sensing, 3-D biophysical modeling, and pre-breeding/genomics. It is partnered with several researchers in the United States and Africa. More recently I have taken on the management of a gantry- and greenhouse-based high-throughput phenotyping facility.
