Ivan Garcia-Lopez

I am an undergraduate alumnus who majored in Biotechnology, and I primarily worked on capturing the diversity found in lima beans. I genotyped lima bean seeds for traits before they are grown in a greenhouse and helped maintain those plants as well as other inbred lines. I also used spectral techniques to determine the nutritional content of lima beans. This work helped to identify relevant genes and genomic regions and could accelerate breeding for useful traits.
